Right clicking a file and selecting an option is more comfortable than navigating from one place to another, bringing up multiple menus and looking for the tools you need. Windows allows you to use this method for a limited number of tasks, but you can go beyond this limitation with Right-Click Extender. This simple application gives you the possibility of adding new options in Windows Explorer's context menu. After a few selections, you will be able to open the administrator command prompt, launch various utilities and perform miscellaneous actions, just by right clicking and selecting the appropriate options.

Right-Click Extender is distributed as a freeware application for Windows 7 and Windows 8. Instead of going through an installation process, you only need to extract its core components from a 46.5 MB archive and run the executable. Besides that, the application doesn't have a significant effect on the computer's performance.

All it takes to enable new options in the context menu is to click their corresponding check boxes on the application's user interface. The available options are categorized in different sections of the interface, based on the menus in which they will show up. Depending on your choices, you will find different selections of options when you right click your desktop, folders, drives or the My Computer icon.

The options which you can add to the context menus can simplify numerous operations considerably. For example, you can enable options for cleaning up or defragmenting the hard drive, which show up when you right click a drive. The largest number of options can be added to the desktop's context menu. An identical set can be found for the My Computer icon. If you add these options, you will be able to run the Notepad, bring up the Windows calculator, Task Manager, Paint, shut down or restart the computer and much more, just by right clicking the desktop or the My Computer icon and selecting the appropriate options.

When right clicking files or folders, you can find options for creating a file list, for the selected folders, hide or show them, open files with Notepad and more. You can also activate icons for most options. Besides adding new options to the context menus, the software can also back up and restore the Windows Registry, create system restore points and use them to undo any changes to the operating system.

Pros

Right-Click Extender can add a large number of new options to the right click menus. It allows you to choose which options to enable and you can also add them with icons.

Cons

There are no drawbacks to mention. With Right-Click Extender, it takes only a few clicks to extend your context menus and make numerous features easier to find.
